Hartford Concerts for Charities and Jubilee House
Hartford Concerts for Charities (HCC) brings together schools, universities, and professional performing organization, along with local and corporate sponsors in partnership with the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the University of Hartford to produce an exciting series of classical music concerts to support numerous charities. Past beneficiaries have included international efforts such as Tsunami and Haitian Earthquake relief and local support for groups like the Boys and Girls Club. Jubilee House is a ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Hartford’s South End celebrating its 15th year of service to the Greater Harford area. Its mission is to enrich the lives of people in the Hartford area by offering educational opportunities for adults and social services for post-resettlement refugees. Jubilee House responds to the needs of its global neighborhood through a spiral of services: Refugee Assistance Services for post resettlement refugees in the Greater Hartford area, tuition-free instruction in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and the Esperanza Academic Program which provides writing, math, computer literacy, and world of work instruction to adults who have a high school diploma or GED and who wish to pursue higher education or build life/work skills. All proceeds from the February 1, 2013 concert will directly benefit Jubilee House, enabling them to continue to help their clients rebuild their lives, embrace education, and improve economic self-sufficiency.
